Bird Key has strong location bragging rights in Sarasota.

Located just over the Ringling Causeway to downtown, and a short walk or bike ride to both Lido Key and St. Armands' Key - there is simply nothing that is out of reach from this exclusive enclave of homes. The neighborhood is known to be home of some of Sarasota's most famous residents; yet remains ungated and unpretentious, although truly upscale and beautiful.

The original home built on Bird Key belonged to John Ringling. That home still exists as the Bird Key Yacht Club, which hosts the Bird Key membership, as well as weddings, banquets and events year round. Bird Key is a purely residential community, with garden, canal and full bayfront homes that exude quiet elegance.

An average year round 75-degree temperature makes this island paradise very conducive for just about anything outdoors. Bikers and roller bladers can travel along the shoreline or wend their way through park-like settings and tropical side streets. Charter a boat with or without a captain and explore the area's many bays and backwaters, or take to the ocean for deep sea fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling.

The Beaches Lido - Lido Beach

Bird Key does not have a beach of its own, even though it is surrounded by water. The beaches of Lido Key, however, are a few minutes by car or bike, and offer pristine stretches of sand accented by towering trees and sweeping dunes. At the southern end of Lido Key, you'll find 100 acres of Australian pines, picnic tables, grills, a volleyball court and playground. Nature lovers enjoy the wooden walkways, trails and canoeing opportunities at South Lido Park.

Food & Events

Evening entertainment is only a short stroll away to St. Armand's Circle. A circular park dedicated to the memory of John Ringling, is flanked by sophisticated restaurants, nightclubs, exclusive shops and exotic boutiques. The sidewalks of St. Armand's are lined with beautiful flowers and trees, and the center of the circle offers a peaceful respite from your shopping. Tree-lined, shady, and full of history, the center of the circle is home to plaques immortalizing some of the more colorful circus folk in our history. Often, St. Armand's Circle plays host to popular Sarasota events, including the custom Porsche, Ferrari and Corvette shows, wine tastings and Jazz on the Circle.

The eclectic downtown Main Street area is just to your east, affording not only a sparkling skyline but a diverse place to explore. Sarasota's downtown has largely resisted commercialism and is dominated by privately owned and unique shops and restaurants. Sarasota Bayfront, accented by Marina Jack restaurant's shining blue glass, offers parks, walking trails, fishing boating, playgrounds and events including art shows and fireworks displays.
