The Kids Summer Beach Runs on Siesta Key combine exercise, fun, and time spent outdoors!

If you have looked at the calendar or stepped outside into the Florida heat within the last month, then you know that the summer months are well under way.
Sun showers have become the norm, people are starting to head to the beach more frequently, and most students are out of school and looking for activities to keep them busy. Whether you have children who are already telling you that they are “bored” or have children visiting you for vacation over the summer, then you are probably searching for activities around or near Siesta Key that will keep them occupied and active throughout the summer months.
One activity that will keep your child busy while offering exercise outdoors is participation in The Kids Summer Beach Runs. These one-mile beach runs begin on June 10, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at Siesta Beach near the pavilion on Siesta Key. Registration for the event will begin at 5:30 p.m. when there will be a one-time $1 fee for registration in the running series. The great thing about these runs is that they will be held every week on Tuesdays through August 12. An additional Kids Summer Beach Run will be held each week on Wednesdays at Brohard Beach in Venice near the Venice Fishing Pier beginning on June 11. The registration details for the Venice location are similar to the ones for Siesta Key.
If your child finishes four runs at either location, then he or she will receive a t-shirt, celebrating his or her accomplishment. As participants finish each race, each child will receive a ribbon, celebrating his or her victory. With these races coming up soon, your child will be excited to join in this fun and exhilarating activity. The great thing about this event is that you can get your errands done during the day, but still have an exciting event planned for your kids to look forward to later in the evening. By combining exercise and fun, you can also keep your child active and engaged throughout the summer months. If you and your child decide to participate, then make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, water for hydration, and any other things that your child might need to have a great experience.
